    V8 Distributor rotor stuck

I tried to remove the rotor today from the lucas electonic distributor fitted to my carbed V8. It wont lift off and seems stuck to the shaft. Tried using a bit of force but chickened out due to fear of breaking something.

Any ideas on how to remove it?

Stuck rotor buttons are common. If you have a spare, just break off the original.

If you use too much force removing it the normal way, you'll more than likely pull the shaft out & have to strip the dizzy to reassemble it.

Breaking the tophat from pulling too hard on the rotor button was a common complaint on the old RRO list.

I thought this only ever hapened to me They often don't survive a small hamer or prying off with a large bent screw driver I try to remember to put neverseize on them now. Tony.

Looks like some force is required then. As long as theres no hidden circlip or screw! - theres nothing worse than butchering something only to find out the easy, correct way afterwards.......

As said before , do not try to pull it off with force as you will break the dizzy. Smash it with a pair of vice grips, without pulling on it.

PS replace it with a genuine $40 or so one not a cheapie.

I think this has answered my problem.......... pulled the rotor too hard trying to get it off and now it doesn't work. Rotor can spin half way round quite freely.

Any ideas on how it to fix?

If it's anything like the old Lucas dizzies on my Hillmans, they are easy to pull apart (and reassemble).
