I no this is a bit off topic.....I accidently overfilled the sump on one of the work vans late this arvo, its a 2 litre petrol motor.
The oil level is around 40mm above the fullmark.
Now the question is can i leave it or do i drain some out tomorrow.
They generally use around a litre every 5k or so,so will it just burn it,or will it cause some damage if left as is?
Seems to run ok....
Thanks in advance
Yep drain it... don't know the technical side of it all but i stuffed a 3.9 v8 in my disco by doing the same damn thing... ended costing me a new engine![]()

Its a work van, drive it
Not a Mitsu is it? I used to have to drive one of them oil burning crap box![]()
Drain it now. As soon as revs over idle will foam and oil pressure drops and could grab a big end or worse . I had it happen more than once with people who work here doing this.

Thanks guys, drained it today,so should be ok.
And yes it is a mitsy, some of the early ones did use oil,the later ones are good. The secret is use the correct oil,we use Penrite gas as most of them are on LPG,dont have any probs. Also change every 10-12k,not 15k as per handbook.
Most use around 1 litre every 5 to 7k,which is pretty reasonable, some have 250k on them. They do get a fare flogging around town work, and are loaded all the time.
The newer ones with less k's dont use any oil between services.
a litre of oil every 5-7K is acceptable.....?
