    how often do you look

    under the bonnet

i was thinking when i was driving down to coffs last night that i only ever look under the bonnet every 5000km....when i'm servicing it, the old girl does not use oil or water, the brakes seem to work, water for the windscreen wiper work last night and power steering was easy on the arms.....

when i'm touring or camping/4wding for a weekend i pop the bonnet each day for a bopeep

Every day. I also keep a very detailed log book/diary of distance travelled, fuel usage, any oil or coolant top ups etc as well as what work was done, when and by whom. Builds a wonderful picture of the car.

once a week on average, normally to fix, fill or modify something but thats the joy of owning a LR, you have to be tinkering with it all the time to keep it at it's best.

But to it's defence, I would jump in it now and drive to perth without a doubt that it would make it

Every saturday morning before I take the girls to swimming lessons as thats the only time I get to drive (take the keys from the missus) the defender ..

As its her daily drive I like to make sure everything is in order I dont want it breaking down on her with a 20 month old and a 5 month old.
