    Diesels, PTO's and governors

just out of curiousity, was there ever a governor available for diesel series LR's?

    are they needed?

are they available for isuzu's and 300TDI's?

Huh? they are inclusive in all of the above, hold the go pedal to the floor and you'll not it stops revving up any further than a preset RPM, its inbuilt in the pump on these

the idea being for when you're running a PTO and whatever is being driven by the PTO comes under load.....

yes there is a governor, yes its required.

All mechanically injected diesels have a governor usually its a variable min/max limited setup where the position of the accelerator linkage raises the minimum RPM permitted setting.

you can get an external fitted governor similar to the one that was fitted to the petrols but generally with an old school diesel if you load it up and get it to sit at the RPMS you want and then lock the throttle if the pump is in top order then the rpms wont raise as the load comes off.

you could make a diesel without a governor built into the pump but you have merry hell trying to get it to idle or maintain smooth reactions to throttle position changes while lightly loaded.

Everything with a PTO, tractors etc, have their governor speed set at max RPM and that's where the work gets done, on the governor

in this case, it would be a PTO driven generator on a landrover with a PTO speed of 3000RPM required

So you want 3000rpms for 50Hz

I'd just adjust the mechanical governor to accomodate

why would you want to run a 3000 RPM generator off of a lany pto?

how much power are you trying to make here?
