Swap Defender diffs with discovery diffs

I own a 110 defender and would like to swap the complete diff front and rear with discovery ones. Has anyone done this mod before that could advise me on the ups and downs of this mod

The front diff swap would be ok but the rears diffs are different. The entire assembly will fit i believe, but the defender rear end is significantly stronger than the disco one. If they had been able to get away with it rover would have run the disco rear end in the defender but they couldn't.

The front dif would be the same wouldn't it?

I've not done it, but I would have thought the tailshaft would be the only other thing to swap out. A defender with the P38 rear diffs tailshaft would probably be the right one.

The diff carriers are different but will swap over ok the axle housings are different in the width of the raduis arm bush housing so will have to swap arms as well. The defender ones are wider I believe.

    cheers

Radius arm width will depend on year. Disco rear will struggle in terms of strength. (this is the setup that the 90 runs basically)

Rear spring seats will have to be changed as Disco will have 6" coils and 110 will have 7" coils. That and tailshaft as per Slunnies comment

    Front will be no drama.

Is the spring seat a matter of just swapping the seats over between the diffs or are they in a wider location (which thinking about it may be the case).

The easiest way may be to just use a late model Defender rear diff with the P38 type Rover diff instead of the salisbury.
