Hey lokka
Can't tell u anything about the manifold because the one I hav is the original manifold modified to fit a td5 turbo so will not be the same as any other out therebut as for turbo rebuild kits I couldn't go past MTQ systems (i think its called systems) down in vic they are very helpful and for a rebuild kit for a gt2052 it was only $140 to my door but then again there is the much disputed balancing problem if u pull it apart yourself.
On that note how well will the standard IHI/garret go with a WTA cooler what sort of boost would i expect to get out of the standard set up or am i better off using the nissan S13 turbo or something better as i need to reco the turbo i have maby getting another that will perform better may be worthwhile
As for making it fit the standard manifold wont be hard and neither will be making it fit the engin bay i have allredy worked out how to run the dump pipe inside the chassis rails rather than in the wheel arch![]()
Turbos have advanced a LOT since the 4BD1s were produced. However the standard turbos should boost to ~16(?) psi and give good performance.
I have a turbo from an S14 silvia (not S13) - which I am happy with. However if I was doing it again I would probably try and find a VVT turbo of appropriate size. A VVT should (in theory) boost earlier and maintain boost over a wider rev range.
If you have the truck sump then there's plenty of room for the exhaust on the inside of the chassis.
I made a header pipe from the turbo manifold, but if I was to do it again I would remove the turbo exhaust manifold and make up a whole new one as indicated in the second pic. At the time of my conversion I didn't realise that the manifold could be replaced on the turbo. It was the first turbo I'd ever had, so I just didn't know then what I know now.
Cheers, Murray

I still have the winged sump. I have a 3" mandrel bent exhaust and a custom dump pipe, which just manages to squeeze between the bellhousing and the firewall.
I got Agrojnr to laser cut me a flange for the dump pipe, then the exhaust guy did the rest (good job too!).
You will also notice the water cooling on the side of the turbo is not connected. It is not needed on (mechanically injected) diesels.
Does anyone use this manifold (flat mount face up) without a cut and shut.?
Any pics?
I have been searching the threads with no luck so far.
