Both engines will probably do.
However if you want to get information on how others have done their conversion, what parts you need to get/adapt this forum has more people with experience on the 4BD1 and conversions to a turbo setup. Reason is that land rovers in Australia came from the show room with the 4BD1 and people have converted them to use a turbo or have swapped out the 3.5l V8 for the diesel.
If the availability and therefore costs is going to push you to the 4JJ1 you will have less help from this forum due to the lesser experience with this motor. I am sure that you will work your way through it if you have to use this motor. Hope you don't have to cut any major structual parts to make it fit.
