Hey Vern Just how much finishing is finishing? Give me a PM please if you are thinking of selling.( The 93 Vogue?) I feel like a trip to Gippy. Nice Country.

To answer your question though Dougal , the reason I bought the County was , in the last 3 years it has had; Rebuilt engine at George Everingham in Lismore , new fuel pump , new injectors , a brand new loose Garrett GT28 Turbo, new water pump , new power steering pump and box , diesel gas injection , rebuilt gearbox ( nice and quiet and smooth) etc etc , so I would like to fit that motor and gearbox. Intercooler yes please .Sorry , what is an MSA gearbox? A short shift for the box sounds good.

Stevie Slug B. Exactly , I do love the County but it was lust with my 87 Hi Line Rangie.

I think the D1 ( I had one ) is a bit shy of room in the cargo area.

    Cancel that Damien

Just thought overnight it needs to be an 86 model at the latest as it will probably go on club reg in the next year or so. Has to be 25 years old to qualify.

MSA is the range of Isuzu 5 speed truck gearboxes. They bolt straight up to the 4BD1 truck motors or the landy motors with Grubb's adapters. Bulletproof, great first gear (5.8:1) and overdrive.

In the trucks they are cable shift, but Grubb has put together a lever kit which gives a gear-lever right where it needs to be for the long-stick position on the counties, defenders and early rangerovers.
He's working on a short-stick kit which places the gear lever behind the transfer box where it goes in later rangerovers (1986 onwards) and discoveries.

I think it's well past time for a 4BD1T powered P38. But I like the look and size of the classics much more.

Just had a bit of possible good news. Good for me anyway

My mate's boy's 86 Hiline V8 has **** itself. Not so good for him but thena again

Engine is out and he's wondering what to do next.

He was thinking of getting an 110 Isuzu so we may just do a body swap?

I will get my Engine and Gearbox and D gas injection etc and give him my engineless car as a straight body/chassis swap.

BTW , does anyone have a comprehensive list of what actually needs to be done and what is is recomended to be done to fit the Isuzu to the Rangie.

    For example

Engine mount structural changes, upgrade rubber engine mounts to minimise () vibration, gearbox mount changes, upgrade radiator , upgrade any other driveline bits , axles , diffs , transfer case etc.

    Any help greatly appreciated

Might be starting to make some headway

Can you believe it , the GLW asked me last night why we sold our VGC , 87 Hiline a few years back

Ummm , beacuse you sad it was a gas guzzling crapheap , you got a new Subaru and I got an 04 Disco.

I knew she loved it deep down!!!

V8s usually have a couple fewer cores than an (ISUZU) diesel rad. A recore with a 4 or 5 core rad will fix it.

I've only managed to heat (not overheat) my Isuzu rangie twice. Both on the same skifield road that climbs to 2000m in about 14km.

I use the standard rangie radiator, it's not a concern.

Yes but NZ is not Australia. I have a brand new 4-core rad and nothing in front to restrict airflow (AC removed). Yet the temp will climb up to ~95 or slightly higher when it is 48 deg and you are sitting on 120 into a headwind.
