You should consider putting another inline filter there, and keeping a spare in the Rangy. If it's blocking up regularly there is a lot of junk in the tank. Cheaper to replace inline filter than spin on filter.

This is a very good idea. I will be doing this. No doubt its the reason for the little inline filter being there in the first place. Draining the tank has gotten rid of a lot of crud but there's almost certainly still a lot in there.

That is a petrol filter. No surprises it blocks easily.

Do you have a (CAV) sedimenter on the chassis rail? Many of us have converted the OEM CAV sedimenter to become a combined sedimenter and filter. The CAV-type filters are only a couple of quid each.

I think Rick130 posted a thread on it somewhere.

    It is also covered here:
    LR to CAV options

I will be doing this. I prefer the way of adding another filter to the sedimenter rather than using the inline one, the inline one seemed a bit small.

I copied Brian's CAV type set up. Definitely better than an inline filter. But an inline filter before the injector pump is better than a blocked screen in the pump.
A CAV type filter was factory fitted to Isuzu stage 1s on the chassis rail.
