Have tried my Milwaukee 18v 1/2" impact gun, have tried pipe on the breaker bar as well. But having the motor on the engine stand isn't making it easy.
Will see if someone in town has a real rattle gun, 3/4" electric jobby![]()
Fair call Dave. I only have a 1/2" rattle gun.
Thats what i thought, thats what the advertising says! Think i will order one
it might.....
If some idiots fitted the nut cross threaded or with one of the stupid strong loctites it wont...
Ive never failed to shift one with adequate bracing off the block and crank with 3/4 inch sockets, lots of weight on the cheater bar and then smacking the handle with a big deadblow mallet.
they also come off real easy if you heat up the center of one flat with a map gas or pencil torch. till its just getting to red hot, and it'll usually respond to a soak with a blend of diesel and atf as a penetrating agent
OF course when none of that works, I swear at it and then when that fails to work I get really, really angry at it and then when that doesnt work I calm right down and then I whisper the secret words at it and then try again. That always works.

I've been using Tank's (Frank....... on this site) suggestion of acetone and atf and am continually surprised at how effective and fast it works with the impossible.
It has to be shaken up when first mixed.
I think why it is so effective is that the acetone evaporates, cooling any air in the thread which draws the mixture in. Might need 2 or 3 applications but will penetrate over a cm in 5 mins into some very ordinary situations.

At what ratio of acetone to atf?
