FWIW, I have never been able to fit 8 litres of oil into my 4BD1T with it's factory wingless sump.
It's somewhere around or just over 6.

With the winged sump I usually put in 9L thereabouts with no trouble apart from the fact it was probably a waste...with this wingless sump I will be running the same as what you said dougal...
As for oil drain into factory position I would like to but on the NA block it does not have a flat surface it only has 2 risen bits cast that would be where the 2 bolts would go on a factory setup...I'll take pics this afternoon to help..

I will most likely just tap into the hole that is just above the filter as I cannot see any problem as long as oil is clean and has a bit of pressure I should be safe (having said that its probably because i have already bought expensive fittings to suit )

As you said John about the oil drain in reference to oil level I will stay clear of draining to the sump as I am worried that there is a chance of oil level moving and covering drain which would not be good...

My thinking in regards to clutch with the mxa gearbox is keeping the original pressure plate I have which is a brand new clutch pro 275mm with extra clamping pressure thanks to Carter's clutches (local place) and then get a 275mm clutch plate part number R10904W $210 I'm hoping this will be the solution ...

The clutch plate I have is 275mm OD, fits later MSA box, originally from a 4BE1 powered NPR.
    I have an Isuzu P/N here 8970234960
Paid $NZ184.42 plus GST back in about 2007.

    Measurements and cross-reference here: http://masuma.com/oem.php?q=8970234960

Your number appears to cross to a Toyota 14B clutch. Dimensions seem to match.

    Thanks dougal ...
The women on the phone said it was from a 4be1 but when I cross referenced on the net I keep coming up with Toyota stuff..I'll give your part numbers a go see what I can come up with..

Decided to make new air cleaner retaining straps out of stainless and then glue some thin rubber on the inside of the 2 straps so that it does not keep scratching the air cleaner!!

Also got a bit of time to "roughly" tack my diff pan onto the front diff ready for when I get hold of a mig welder this week ...

    Some observations;

    1. Your bell housing will bolt straight up to the truck 4BD1 Flywheel housing

    2. From the measurements on the output flange it appears to be the same as the MSA. What's the diameter off the shoulder on this flange to confirm?

    3. The length of my MSA kits to keep the Engine and transfer case in original positions is 625mm. If your mearsurement of 615mm is accurate, then you have 10mm to play with to keep Engine/Transfer iin stock locations.

    4. My shift kit will bolt to the top of that box.

If the LT230 font output casing clears the bulge in the gearbox when the transfer case is butted right up against rear of the MXA.... If I were you, I would make a steel adaptor plate 10mm thick to mate the two. Get a hold of the ZF auto coupling spud shaft and see if you can get the mainshaft resplined to suit the internal spline of the ZF spud shaft..... However, from the pictures, it appears the bulge may be too much for this and you will need to space the transfer case back.

    thanks sheldon
well ill try and get those required measurments asap as i am pressed for time due to job change at the moment...
well if you recon the shift kit will fit im up for one then please when you have a spare kit

finding a ZF auto spud shaft is going to be a struggle for me as i do not come by many rover parts at all and am not mamiliar with autos one little bit so have no idea what model cars came with the appropriate box...

well as someone mentioned elsewhere rakeway in the UK will not respond to email as i would like to try and run there shaft so then a divorced setup can be arranged...as for original position im not to worried as i can forsee custom tail shafts being made oneday soon also.

In my thread Pete Simpson said to call Rakeway if you want to know anything, they aren't good with email.

Just make sure you get the time difference right.
