In answer to your question, yes you can overfeed oil to a turbo, most have a restriction in the feed line to prevent this.

Also make sure you have the drain / return correctly orientated, some will not drain effectively on even the slightest off angle.

    Loving your work!

Also, different size restrictors for journal and ball bearing turbos. Journal bearing ones have a larger restrictor than ball bearing types.

    Progress

    Thanks for the info guys.

Should have some 4" flex hose tomorrow so I can complete the intake from the air cleaner to the LP turbo. I think I will reduce the oil feed to the HP by half as it is a 4mm id tube. Then wrap all the turbo and pipe I can get too and get into testing. Will try and get the waste gate to actually work around the 20psi mark if I can for now. Could be as simple as moving the pick up point from the HP outlet to somewhere else. Possibly the LP outlet and set the waste gate to a low setting??????Also fitted a "Gates" flex radiator hose to the top outlet and have strapped it to the alternator, so I have room to get the flex hose in. (modify 13 things to fit 1!!!!!!!)

BB turbos require oil restriction however most modern turbos have a built in restriction...

worth checking if they are built in or not. If they are, and you use one externally it can kill it. The manual on my EFR says this several times.

Brutus: 1969 109 ExMil 2a FFT (loved and lost)

You can check by disconnecting the drain and measuring the oil-flow. Garrett will have recommended figures for oil flow for the small GT bushing turbos.

Too much pressure means too much flow and oil spitting out the seals.
Too little pressure and flow means the bushings won't stabilise the shaft.
No flow and your turbo won't live long.

    Ok
Air cleaner etc is complete and drove down to The109 ( Eric's) factory for a test.

Two problems. The fuel pump cannot deliver enough fuel from midrange to full throttle.

I think the 2.5" exhaust is at its limit. Anyone know what pressure the exhaust should be? Also the best point to measure from, ie say in the dump pipe????

Definetly has potential so will gradually play with it over the next few months.

As in drive pressure before turbo? Also Yes 2.5" may be a restriction try it without an exhaust if possible... Your fuel delivery may need to be checked on a test bench...there is a lot of variations in fuel delivery profiles on these engines from graphs I have looked at....
