Alright, I'll admit it - I use them sometimes. But only when it is really cold.. -6 or more. If it cranks over 3 times without starting I'll give it 20 or 30 seconds of plug heat and then it will start on the first crank.

I find they do help on those really cold mornings in our freezing climate too. I don't think mine have worked well for the last 2 years but hasn't mattered that much anyway. Not sure how important this is, but I remember reading in the Australian supplement that came with the Isuzu landys not to hold them on for more than 10 or 15 seconds??

Repco in Hobart and Kingston both have 4 on the shelf, I believe Derwent park and Bellerive have some too.

Should be $23.99 retail, couple of dollars less if he'll do trade....

Thanks for the replies guys, I am in the midlands of Tassie and do have to start for work at 05:00 some days, it can be very, very cold at 530 Meters ASL at that time here so plugs are needed to save battery drain. seems I have the issue solved now so thanks again all

Interesting - Thanks for that. I never even thought about it, and used 30 seconds because thats what all the old tractors need
