start run solenoid to pull to start when the lever is spring loaded to the start position and the heater mods were not a success bloody plastic so have ordered a new copper core.Have rehashed the solenoid so the
run lever is in the stop position and the solenoid pulls to the run position as didn`t want an edic . The pic of the vertical solenoid the right way

Why don't you want an EDIC? I purchased a solenoid that looks exactly the same as yours, but I've decided not to use it now I understand how an EDIC works - and I think it's much better.

Using the pull solenoid you have, if you lose power to the solenoid for any reason for even a second, your engine will cut out. With an EDIC you only need power at lever transition - start-up and shutdown - but not while the engine is running or off. EDIC is much better IMO.

Mine is sprung to run, the solenoid pack is sprung to shut-down. Meaning if I have any electric issues (like overzealous water-blast cleaning) I can simply unbolt the cable (10mm spanner) and the engine defaults to run.

The only problem as I considered going that way is once you have turned off the engine it reverts to a run position and being Isuzu could start with just a bump in gear.If I remove the pins connecting the solenoid the pump is in the start position

Being left in run position when vehicle is not in use is not roadworthy here either.

Mine stays off. When I said solenoid, it is actually a geared motor, the spring in the lever can't extend the cable once the key is off.

I haven't opened it, but I suspect it is simply highly geared with a torsion return spring on the motor. With no power on the motor it reverts to the off position. It requires 12v power to extend the cable. It's the factory Isuzu truck setup.

But it can be disabled with one 10mm spanner.

That means my County wouldn't be roadworthy in Vic Do you have the year that rule came in as mine just scrapes in having a manual cable stop in NSW AFAIK.

Dougal Sounds like you have Engine Disabling Idiotic Contraption Of the
100+ emergency generators I have installed over the years most would use a
start run solenoid with no failures I know of
