    Thanks for the reply

got my questions muddled up above

Short story is I've got HPR30 in the gb and transfer of my 110 according to the mechanic

I was going to use the same in my Stage 1 LT95 and in the engine just use some 20W-60 diesel oil I have for the 1972 Perkins in the boat

I read this which suggested there was better choices so given both vehicles are the same Engine/gb/tc with salisburys

    Whats the best choice for
    Engine Oil:
    GB:
    Transfer:
    Diffs:

the county has a detroit in it but I doubt this changes much

Your advice is very much appreciated

    Cheers

20W60 is far too thick for an isuzu - even in summer. I tried it once - never again! RX super and other oils most people use are a 15W40.

"The best" is somewhat open to interpretation - the best if money is no object or the best ratio of price to performance?

Here is what I use, however bear in mind I have an LT85/LT230 not LT95:
    Engine Oil: Castrol RX Super
GB: Castrol Syntrans (change at 20k-30k km intervals - so not too $$$)
    Transfer: EP80W90
    Diffs: EP80W90 front (rover W-ARB ), EP85W140 rear (salisbury w-ARB )

I am not as fussed which brand of gear oil I use, but usually castrol.

The only problem with the LT95 is most have oil migration from box to t-case. However I would use a 75W80 GL4 oil for the t-case (e.g. Castrol VMX-M). If you have a lot of oil migration you may want to use Castrol VMX80 in the box as it will be cheaper to top up (note VMX-80 is less viscous than VMX-M).

Thanks for that, just relised I should have clarified both vehicles have non trb LT95

    Transfer: EP80W90 would't this eat the shims in a non-trb LT95 I assume this is LT230 only?

That was only for LT230. If you keep reading I suggested this for an LT95 t-case (GL4 and the right viscosity):
Castrol VMX-M Transaxle & Manual Transmission Fluid - 75W-85, 4 Litre - Supercheap Auto Australia

However I do think the GL5 thing is overrated - I used GL5 oils for years in my series box and t-case and couldn't notice any corrosion/erosion of the bronze parts when I pulled it apart.

    Thumbs up detroit in county

We use detroits at work, they have a special requiremnt for low ash I think, it's a two stroke. Intersting conversion what engine did you fit 4-71? love that detroit note

How would Valvoline Super Diesel 15W-40 compare to RX Super for *engine*?

Also, does "low ash" translate to "don't use in LT95"?

I ask because it's on sale this weekend, cheaper than discounted RX Super, even.
