Possibly, but since there already is a solution for the problem "off the shelf" why not use it ?
I came across this idea in PE Irvings Tuning book- suggests a double clutch as a solution for torque slip. Uses the same spring/ pressure plate so not heavier on the pedal.
Could that work for a turbo isuzu?

same as any other multi plate clutch pack.
problems going to be spacing it all up balancing it all up and actually getting it made to fit.
You could probably buy a dual plate clutch setup to bolt straight on and then just machine up a shaft adapter or specify a custom spline set.

Thanks guys, whereas I would prefer myself to use an off the shelf tried solution, I did think this was a neat idea
the heavy duty friction plate with the stock duty pressure plate if you only need a little more (the friction plate is a little thicker)
the heavy duty friction plate and the heavier pressure plate with the longer pedal arm or the fatter slave or the skinny MC or fitting the pressure hold assister dohickey from a disco 1.
you can get a pressure plate that has the pivots in a different position and a stiffer spring set.
you can fit the uber heavy clutch and then add in a vac booster unit.
lots of options. depending on your definition of off the shelf.

what did that disco 1 thing do? how?
leaked.
by being the hydraulic equivalent of a lucas electrical component.
functionally it was a balance pressure reduction valve. once you had the clutch in white man magic took over and permitted you to hold the clutch with less pressure and maintain the lower pressure as you released it.

I've heard of people removing a spring in the pedal to significantly reduce the pedal pressure as well.

Have read that the clutch that uses the nissan pressure plate is lighter under foot
