pics would be excellent thanks...
I've got an original V8 and an original 4BD1 radiator, and the only difference I can tell is that the inlet and outlet are swapped around. The V8 rad has a bent top tube (inlet) and the 4BD1 has a bent bottom tube (outlet).
Both are the same otherwise (no of cores, dimensions etc).
I also have a V8 rad from Gary (CLR) and the biggest difference between this one and the original is that the original has staggered cores Vs the aftermarket, which has in-line cores (couple of pics of buggered staggered core radiator here). I can take some more pics tonight if you're interested (4BD1 Vs aftermarket V8) - the other V8 radiator is currently residing at isuzurover's place.
The fins on the original also protrude several mm past the cores which I think might protect them from light hits, while the fins on the aftermarket are flush with the core & quite exposed.
Cheers

Dimensions are approx the same, the external frame of the aftermarket V8 is a bit wider (thicker) than the original, but cores apprear to be the same thickness.

The painted one looks like it has MUCH bigger tanks???
As Bojan(Offender90) and I found out this morning, based on a sample size of 2 (of each) so far: V8 (county) rads have bigger tanks!!! I am not sure why this would be? More water would mean more heat capacity, and a slower rate of rise in temps...
EDIT - I am sure the Stage 1 rad I had had 2 small tubes coming out of the rhs tank, but the county rads only have one. Can anyone confirm?
Original V8 county pics from this morning
front V8
Notice the tanks are not tapered like the 4BD1's
top V8
Compared with isuzurover's 4BD1 top
The radiator sits higher in the 4BD1 then it does in the V8, so the cowl comes closer to the radiator inlet, hence the straight inlet pipe.
Guys the stage 1 stuff is WAY different to county stuff.
Here is my Stage 1 Radiator. Notice the mounting points under the tanks. The core is also shorter and narrower. Mine is a very early 4BD1 and is a 4 core staggered design with protuding vanes.
There is also a 3 core option for recoring. Bearman offered me a radiator from a county to use as a recore but found they were too big for a stage 1.

My 6x6 rebuild project is progressing but it seems the IKEA kit is missing the OEM V8 radiator, so I need to buy a new radiator.
- Are 4BD1 radiators still available?
- If I am to get a dead 4BD1 radiator re-cored, what are the differences between the V8 Defender (MY91) and 4BD1 radiators? (Image would be good)
- If I want fit an intercooler, are there changes to the radiator I should have done during a re-core?

After searching back to find this thread I merged my Defender radiator question with this Stage One thread.
My remaining question is whether the Defender/110 radiator mounts and stage one mounts at the top are the same?
