Also, does anyone have an idea on an approx cost for an isuzu box?

I'm intrested to know how this is fairing.

    Edit: Just found this.

    Isuzu MSA ratios
    The MSA-5G I would recommend;

    5.788:1
    2.998:1
    1.594:1
    1.000:1
    0.776:1
    5.798:1

3rd gear is about right to move along in 50 or 60 speed zones, where as some of the other boxes are a bit lower in 3rd so may not be as user friendly (switching b/n 3rd and 4th all the time).

    1st gear is 59% lower in the MSA-5G compared to the LT85 - even lower than a (~$1200?) Maxi-Drive 49% reduction......

5th is also 2% quicker than the LT85 - so a much wider spread.

Plus the side of the box has fitment for a standard truck PTO output, which are pretty cheap and easy to get.

Oh, and you've got a choice to run a 24V starter (and alternator) which fires the motor so much easier than the 12V.

I got my box (with a 4BD1) for $1500. A week later I saw one for condition unknown $250. Seems around $750 for a private buy is the going rate on these.

Just a little movie showing it all in. Starting from underneath at the clutch - to ending with a little drive.

The MSA-5G I have is from an NPR250 with the 4BE1 engine. Do you guys know the history of yours?

The MSA-5G in my 110 was from an early (guessing '86) NPR with a 4BD1 and the one I got today was from the back of a 4BE1.

I found an 85 NPR owners/drivers manual the other day. The 85 4BD1 (weren't turbocharged that year) had the MSA-5P which is the same gearbox my 86 4BD1T originally came with.

Anyone know if the MYY 'boxes are the same output pattern as the MSA and is there much work to bolt the bell housing up to the 4BD1 ?

I remember John/Bush65 saying that the six speed he has would foul the LT230 as I think it was the same length but wider than the five speed, but looking at this adapter that'd be a non issue, all else being equal.

    Excellent work mate.
