    Alternator, what alternator

After an interesting drive home from a camping trip that started with a dead alternator. After packing up this morning we snatch started the Turdis in the quagmire we called home for the last few days and drove home on battery powered lights, wipers and such. The last 100 odd km's having absolutely no electrical power in the car, visibility was restricted due to the torrential rain making a very interesting drive. Still I got it home, dare say in an auto or a modern engine we'd have to have been flatbedded.

Anyway what replacement alternator options are available for the 4BD1, just the standard 70amp unit or can I go bigger?

    Any part numbers or prices?

    Alternators

    OK

Stay away from the 120 amp as it is not repairable. ie no rectifier or regulator replacements available.

The 80 amp version is rebuildable and comes with a 50cc Vac pump.
They are listed as NPR and Holden Rodeo units.

I can get the p/n from "The 109" as he has borrowed my catalogue if need be.

Most of the small ones are, mine is, 509 long. Im pretty sure the motor is even a 4bd1. But yes absolutely 12v. If you're feeling adventurous I have a spare 6bd1 turbo driven engine you could try to shoe horn in.
