SubscriberJust don't wash them for a few weeks. The brake dust will make them look charcoal and you'll incentivise yourself not to wash it

SubscriberAre there any issues going to the 18" rim
eg legalities, speedo etc
i know when I went to a larger tyre on another car I had to get my speedo recalibrated, mind you they had to do nothing as speedo was more accurate afterwards
WB
Speedo and tyre width legalities depend on the tyre size rather than just the wheel size. The offset has a maximum change allowed and the steelie is within that requirement being the same offset as the Compo. The 265/60 tyre size is well within speedo, diameter and track increase limits and I think the 265/65 & 285/60 are both just within the requirements too, or maybe just over (can't quite remember the max allowed diameter increase).

Thanks for the info (and Paul.) The new rims would change the tyre size a bit, which would effect the diameter and the speedo readings even if within legal limits. This was the case with my previous car when I went for slightly bigger tyres. When 50mm but I still was required to get the speedo recalibrated which was a waste of time and money.
. I reckon the many people who have the Compo alloys would have had to deal with any issues by now. I guess one biggy would be insurance but they seem to be interested in if legal or not.
i certainly will look into them when I am due for another set of tyres, if not before and look forward to hearing any feedback
