Centre hole is the same size, but the D3/4 has a tapered hole and why the D3/4 won't fit a trailer hub, but should fit a D2 hub.

No, the D2 has a smaller bore. To fit D3/D4/X5 rims on a D2 concentric rings are required unless steel rims with their tapered nuts.

    Photos on D4?

Pretty keen to place my order. I'm very sure this is a great option for me...
Just wondering if you've got any pictures yet of these beauties on a D4..?

    Brad.

Final mold is in production and will have some on a D4 within the next couple of weeks. Below is the latest image file, this week we made some final tweaks to increase the area around the valve to allow different TPMS systems to be used around the world.

As far an insurance, compliance, legalities warranties etc. These will be built to AS/SAE and ISO Standards as well as certified by Australian Engineering company to ensure there will be NO issues with any of those problems. The wheels will also be DOT Stamped as required for the USA as well as all other requirements for these standards.

There is likely to be a colour choice, Satin Back or a Graphite / Charcoal colour. Pre Purchasers will have a choice within the next week on it.

Continue to follow with keen interest :-)

I don't suppose you were able to, erm, borrow LR's approach with respect to the bead? That is, something that holds on to the rubber to the point of causing the local tyre shop to swear profusely when changing tyres?

Strangely enough, the actual bead profile for steel rims is strictly laid out in the various ISO standards that needs to be followed to ensure it passes standards. This includes an internal rib to keep the tyre on the rim in the event of deflation as well as the actual size of the air chamber and slope on the steel to ensure the tyres can be fitted properly. The area around the bead itself has set sizes that need to be adhered to so i wasn't able to change much in that area on a steel rim.

The alloy allows a bit more freedom due to the construction than the steel as the steel is a continuous thickness (if that makes sense)

    Cool MELBOURNE PHYSICAL PRESENCE?

    Hi there apom,

Not that we get a huge call on them (mostly workshop/trade customers) but we get a few inquiries and just had another private customer asking for a set of steelies for his D4 last week!

If you are interested to display one in our shop for locals to view IN REAL LIFE, we would happily display for you.

We love supporting innovative forumites & vendors!!!

    Hoo-Roo, Dave.
