Just be aware that you are going to get some serious flexing of that drawbar A-frame when loaded. I have a camper-trailer with a 65*35 RHS drawbar A-frame and the amount of flexing when travelling on any road bar a freeway is scary! (You will see the trailer rocking backwards and forwards in your rear vision mirror). I have since welded an additional section under it to stiffen it up.
Look luck getting it all together....
thanks,, but,,
are you for cerial!
its 50x50x6 box, there is 3 lengths of it, the longest span is 1600mm.
im pretty confident that what ive used and how its built aint gonna break bend or bugger up.
hooked up and working, just need to cut the plates out to hold em in placeso are the lights on yet?
also need to buy more paint for the frame and the tub, then seal the tub floor, make a top for it with gas struts, get an alloy water tank made FIT THE TYRE CARRIER THAT YOU ARE GONNA GET ME put the box on the front buy a treg hitch and get it registered
at least ive finished the draw bar, all be it attaching the safety chain.

Coming along nice
I'd say your trailer is more an axle positioning issue as well as flexing, all trailers flex to some degree, good postioning of the axle in conjunction with drawbar length can resolve swaying more than strengthening the A bar.
I've seen drawbars made from 40mm angle that look pretty stable behind vehicles and no swaying like you described and these weren't part of the chassis, just an A frame welded under the trailer chassis.

Hey discowhite, have you done any research as to getting a home made trailer registered? Does RTA issue you with a compliance plate with chassis number (VIN), do you need an engineers certificate? I would presume that you would need to get it weighed as a minimum. Would be interested in how the process goes...![]()
rego is as per any trailer newly built.
they dont even wanna see it.
just have to supply a stat dec stating what its made from, its length and width and a weigh bridge cert.
apart from that its $140 a year and annual pink slips.
and i can tow it to and from any weight bridge with out a plate.
cheers phil
