    Thanks Sideroad
There is a big lathe in town and another in Narrogin. Both couldnt grip a 16" rim.It meant a trip to Perth and the 2 companys I phoned made it quite clear they were too busy to mess around boreing a couple of rims out.
Wasnt happy doing the die grinding, but options are limited when you arent in the city.

Well the trailer got it first try out as a camper trailer,no camper top as yet unfortunately, still tenting it.
Did a 2 week trip, around 1500km.First up was Cape Riche(Wellstead 100ks east of Albany) for a weeks camping then across to Esperance for a week with CraigE and family and then return home.
The trailer performed really well, tows real nice especially on unsealed roads, its heavy so care is needed on the gravel on tight bends as it can be a tad pushy.
Will need to get the D2 chipped,it tows it fine all be a tad thirstier, but once there is a good headwind she struggles a tad.Removing that heavy duty roofrack and making a smaller fishing rod carrying rack will improve things somewhat.
Starting to seriously look at the camper tops, hope to order and fit one mid year.Just got to find a good Perth canvas-smith to do a custom job.

    Hi Guys
Picked up my Camper Trailer top yesterday.

Next mission is to build a lift up frame to secure it to the trailer and do a few modifications to the trailer. The trailer will no longer be used as a trailer,it will be a Camper Trailer only.
Will post further pics as I finish the project off.

    Well done!

This build is certainly coming along.

I think my favourite part is simply the matching black of the car and trailer - looks real good.

    Hi People
Ive been building the frame to fix the camper trailer top to.It hinges and is held up with gas struts(just waiting for correct eye fittings).

Have welded steel around the rear door to take a "pinch weld" seal, the top seals in the same way.

It isnt till one starts fabricating all the add on parts that you realise how much goes into a camper trailer.

    Still to go.
    -Dinghy/solar panel rack
    -fit 80l water tank/pump underneath
    -2x4.5kg gas bottles
-remove hydraulic ram/pump and secure "break back" function
    -remove 2x9kg gas bottle rack
-fit toolbox on drawbar for honda EU20 and chainsaw plus fuels.
-wire up 12v electrics inc solar controler and car stereo.
    -re-paint/touch up where needed.
    -AND PROBABLY MUCH MORE

Im still working on the camper trailer.
Much like an artist creating a work of art,I can only work on it when inspired.Working long days during the week and feeling LAZY on the weekends
The gas struts work awesome on the top lift.
Ive removed all the hydraulic lift bits. The water tank is fitted,Ive ordered a toolbox for the drawbar and at the moment fabricating a boat/solar panel rack that has been quite a nightmare to design. If it works like it looks like it will its a beauty
Will try and add a few update pics tommorow if I dont decide to watch the racing taxis instead of burning steel!!!!

    Hi people.
Its been some time since I last posted on my camper trailer build.I did loose interest for some time.Have now found some motivation to get it ready to use this summer.
Since last posting,I have been constructing a roof rack capable of carrying a dinghy and also to house my solar panels.

The rack opens to the left of the trailer allowing the tent to be erected, the solar panels then fold up and out to catch the sun.I tell you its taken LOTS of nutting out and lots of grey hair!!!

This weekends task was to fabricate mounts to suit the 8 gas struts coming to make the lifting of the rack easy(ASSUMING I GOT IT RIGHT!!!)
They are all tacked in place ready to test fit when they arrive.

When we bought the Defender it had a drawer system that had to be removed as its fitment took the place of the back seats. It will come in handy fitted to the trailer when I do the fit out.
