The Landy wave must have become a natural reflex...
A few weeks ago my fiancee told me I was a goose for waving at a Defender. Then I realised what she meant.
I was driving her Ford Falcon at the time!![]()

I have been driving Defender's for over 30 years in Aus and 10 years before that in Scotland, With the WAVE .And I also agree that the WAVE is not as prominent in the younger owners, You can't drive a Defender without the WAVE it's just not good. You can not be a true Defender owner whith out the WAVE.
after reading all these comments, my question is; is my wave welcome coming from a disco driver? ya'll dont seem to like disco's
p.s. i love waving to fellow branded vehicles and im from the younger generation still...at 25...aren't i?![]()
I'm from Victoria and I always wave, if I think they won't see it I always throw my arm out the window! It's a habit that dates back from being a kid in landies so I almost try it as I buzz past them on my motorbike by accident!!!
I'm also in the younger gen being 25
Naughty naughty, a 90 did not wave to me the Thursday night on Herring Rd North Ryde, the disappointing factor was she (Girl driver) almost ran into me as she turned into the roundaboutHere I am waving away, she did not even recognise I was a Deefer

I find I get most waves from older model defenders like mine and new defender drivers are more snobbish around Melbourne anyways
