I've had quite a few good waves in the last little while.
    Cheers, Billy.
    Keeping it simple is complicated.

The Defender wave is alive and well.

The only Defender driver not to wave to me in the past three weeks was on the opposite side of a six lane freeway.

As for disco and rangy drivers, I can't remember a wave all year.

    All is well.

Drove from Mackay to Townsville and back on Monday, passed a number of defenders! Most waved but there was 1 D90 which happens to by my car's twin didn't (passed them twice too) they did not wave! I was very sad, I thought that they'd wave to their twin.... even if mine has had some surgery to make it angrier

New to Defenders, learned about the wave pretty fast and it's now automatic and I always initiate.

I'd say for defenders it would be about 95% for returned waves, I assume the 5% that don't are simply dealing with the traffic, lost in other thoughts or I just missed it.

Months in and many waves it's still a great feeling.

Earlier Discos... % lower, but worth a crack and a smile if it's plain obvious that you'll be seen.

As for the newer discoveries - barely 5% and Range Rover, ha! - I've given up waving at them ... I suspect I'd get a better response rather waving at Land Cruisers (I've got a soft spot for a few models there too)

This is both city and rural driving around Auckland, New Zealand and I drive a Puma.

hey!! I drive a RRS and always wave at all Landrover products (except Freelanders and Evoques that is). Probably because I owned and drove Defenders for 14 years. So my wave, I like to think, is still a Defender wave......

I gave a big wave and thumbs up from my work car today. Pacific highway Raymond terrace, about 11ish there was a white 130 and a bright green (and smokey)130 traveling northbound in convoy.
Both drivers looked confused as to why a bloke in a white holden cruze would be waving. Was it anyone from here?

Waved to a white (what else ?) 110 Tdi on the Namatajira Drv near Ormiston Gorge NT while riding shotgun in a DII ! (Ok, our driver, an ex-Deefer driver waved too )

    Yes, the wave was returned.

Well you went for plush, what do you expect? It's not a Defender, cmon admit it, it's not the same is it 😊 ...Ok then, if you wave to me I'll wave back. 😉 But most rangie drivers are too self absorbed it appears.

Hello! I'd certainly wave back if you did ! I'd get a kick out of it actually.

Just saying it's my experience in a few months of Defender owning in Auckland NZ that it's much more of a Defender thing than a general LR thing over here

No doubt this has been posted here already? (note the last line)

Over here it simply appears that they are unaware... If I were to wave, and a friendly few were to wave back, I think a fair proportion wouldn't have made the LR connection, they were just being cheerful
