The fact you haven't heard about it before doesn't mean it isn't true !! If you want to ignore the facts go ahead and keep your head in the sand.

Definitely true and I have the bank balance to prove it.
The gurus in the UK say you can use the steel dowels on the earlier engine.
I think they just shorten them slightly to prevent cracks due to expansion

I guess that "Bollox" in your original post was a word you made up and you didn't mean:

    bollocks
    // (say 'boluhks) Colloquial
    –plural noun 1. testicles; balls.
    2. (construed as singular) rubbish; nonsense.–verb (t) (bollocksed, bollocksing) 3. Also, bollocks up. to bungle.
–interjection 4. a contemptuous exclamation indicating disbelief, dismissal, etc. Also, ballocks, bollicks. [Middle English ballokes, Old English beallucas testicles, ? diminutive of ball1. See -ock]
    (Macquarie Dictionary)

Unless of course you use the UrbanDictionary: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php'term=bollox

In which case you may want to choose your words more carefully.

Isn't the English language a wonderful thing.

    Cheers

Re: TD5 head worn due to moving?
Hi, All td5 engine cylinder head dowels are superseded to the metal type now so there is no problem using them on 10p or 15p engine.
The rings that you have in your cylinder head sealing face are caused by the head bolts loosing there clamping load over time and allowing the multi layer cylinder head gasket to chatter causing it to bite into the alloy cylinder head.
a quick pressure test and skim should be all that is needed but depending on the amount removed from the cylinder head they may need to recess the valve depths.

So is punctuation, aren't commas a wonderful thing! Try re-reading my original post, take a pause at the comma and stop making yourself look like a **** (look that up in your dick-tionary)

Question Is there a link to head gasket replacement on Td5?

Hi I agree with Nedflanders and this is not a place to ark up for no reason.

I am also in the position of pressurised header tank that then leads to coolant loss etc. The wife at least shut it down before it seized, so my assumption that the head gasket has gone seems correct.

Is there a detailed post re doing this job, I can't find it as yet.
Also any point in re torquing the head bolts? I think I know the answer to that one but you never know.

It is a 99 disco with 330k. just done the injector seals 200 km's ago.

    Thanks Jo

I think "Oh bollox" might have been better wording, meaning "Oh no not something else to worry about". By starting the sentence with Bollox gives the impression of this is rubbish. That's how I took it at first. It's hard to tranfer how we speak into text.
    Cheers, David.
