Puma doesn't have a VGT standard....
I'm about to stick a vnt on my td5, not because I want a race car but because I want to overtake things without screaming its head off and not need 5km to do so.
However the warranty point raised is very valid

Beg to differ. My 2.2l TDCi 2013 most certainly has VGT, and came standard.

An EGT guage will quickly illustrate what I mean. You can build high egts with a standard map too, but the lack of power often means you change down sooner (which then drops your egts).

Not saying don't enjoy it, just something to be aware of is all.
I am interested to know if a larger intercooler would mitigate this at all?

If not what can be done to reduce EGT's?

From trawling through the BAS site it seems that the stock TDCi VGT turbo is suitable for their 150hp and 170hp tunes.

No need for any component uprates for the 150hp tunes. Need (or highly recommended?) to uprate the intercooler for the 170hp tunes.

Above 170hp it seems intercooler, air intake mods, and uprated (hybrid?) turbo is needed. (Perhaps more mods depending on how much hp you want...)

I have a serck Motorsport IC sitting in my dads shed which after fitting I don't use (if anyone is keen to buy it, it seems like a very good quality unit), it's a closed fin type, and I use the vehicle off-road a lot, i reckon it would get clogged with dirt pretty easily. My other concern is when I fitted it, from what I could see it seemed to block air flow to the radiator a lot, I've allready had people on this forum tell me that that isn't the case but I can't see how it wouldn't especially when it got bit of mud in it. I run a egr closed only remap on my 2010 2.4, I have a tuned remap on my tuning box but I choose not to use, as the egr closef by itself smooths out the throttle and makes the car drive better.have a terrafirma decat pipe (to reduce egt)which I think is all that needs to be done to the exhaust as its already pretty big. Plan to put a pyrometer in soon then maybe I'll use the tuned file but honestly I don't think it's needed especially Off-road low range where that extra power is more likely to break something.

Just my thoughts but I think people should have a think it about before just going for more horses.

Hey disco muppet, I would be very interested to hear how your upgrade to the TD5 goes. Thinking of doing something similar to my 99 td5 defender
