What was the exact spec you've ordered? Including any extras?

Have just been contacted by the senior salesman at the dealer, who says that this is the situation:

All the Land Rovers allocated to Australia were already sold out at some time prior to me ordering mine.

The salesman I dealt with is new and didn't know that there was a dictate (from who I forgot to ask) that when a few more were allowed to be added recently, they now had to include this 'Runout Pack'.

Hence this wasn't explained to me and wasn't on the contract.

Now, I have the choice of either accepting this pack, or pulling out of the contract - because the vehicle must come with the extras.

Will ponder overnight what I want to do, but not feeling good about this deal right now.

    bull****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

absolute load of ****. another lie, i've seen them use this same tactic before.

a contract is a contract. hold them to it.

it's not your fault the sales guy was new (although i suspect that's a lie)

if they want to break contract, they can pay for it.

Simple they admitted to the being at fault .
    You have a contract .
Standby it and don't back away .
They need to absorb the cost .
Believe me I had bigger issues years ago with a LR dealership and was given a brand new vehicle at there cost .
    Can't discuss details
    Just don't back down .

    Cheers Eevo & PateyW,

That's motivating to hear. Might let them know tomorrow that I'm going to consult the lawyer again.

I would quietly ask the salesman to put that story in writing and you might consider it. Bet you get nothing in writing. If you do, it is an admission of fault by them.

We recently ... 3 weeks ago , ordered a car for our daughter and even tho it wasn't a land rover I am sure it would be standard practice, that when a contract is signed for an ordered vehicle , the salesman takes the contract to his boss for final approval and signature of the boss.

So in your case if a new salesman didn't know his job, the boss or dealer principle checks it and should pick up if the item is not available, and you should have been advised there and then of the new option. It should be easy to spot as they are the one's who sign off the contract.

I think they are trying to pull the wool and they are hoping you will buckle and fall for it.

Plenty have given good advice, but I know I would be making them deliver what they have contracted to do.

    Good luck with it.

    Cheers Ean
