how a dealer expects you to pay for a car:

walk in wearing suit (so your easy to identify)
walk over to most expensive car
    hand over wads of cash
ask no questions, in fact, the less you speak, the better
    Current Cars:
    2013 E3 Maloo, 350kw
    2008 RRS, TDV8
    1995 VS Clubsport

    Previous Cars:
    2008 ML63, V8
    2002 VY SS Ute, 300kw
    2002 Disco 2, LS1 conversion

Ouch. That's a painful story - what a waste of time.

I can only add that dealing with Bruce Lynton was very good to deal with, and worth the drive down from Brissy. Bought a 110 dealer this year, and found Brissy dealer acted like they did not want the sale.

So El Ray, what did you end up doing? Maybe its in this ( now very long ) thread, but I cant find it.

I've missed this thread, but my experience with trying to buy a 110 from ***** was the same as many here. My wife and I went into the show room, I said I wanted a Defender, sales rep said, "We have a grey one coming in two months time, $52K if you want it." When I said, no, I want a white one, he said, "Sorry, can't help you" and then turned and walked away to another customer leaving my wife and I standing there.

I got my white Defender 110 from Sunshine Coast dealer a few weeks later for $48K, they were good to deal with. All the log book services were done by Bruce Lyton down the Gold Coast, all very good but a bit pricey. Now MR Automotive do all the things I am too lazy to do, they are pretty good and reasonably priced

    Hi,

I cancelled the sale with *****, who seemed unconcerned, and thanks to a recommendation from Tombie, placed an order with Melbourne City Land Rover. Same spec, better price, no mention at all of a Runout Pack. Completely professional, friendly and straightforward.

As some people have commented on here, another option was to fight to have my contract honored and perhaps improve the situation for future buyers at that dealer - but based on the feedback from others here going back many years, it is not something my actions would have affected at all.

As some comedian said, 'It's like deja vu all over again!'
Seems like Lynton and MR keep receiving positive feedback - cheers.

I got Bear from Bundy land rover and they were great.

I paid etc via phone/internet etc etc and took about a month to collect it!
Flew up to Brissie and got my brothers car, drove (with a mate) to Bundy, they paid for the motel overnight, - Had teas with my "vehicle inspector" and his wife (Hi Pop) and then next day collected the car, they helped me get rego permit etc and bent over backwards to help.

Drove from there to Riverland as its first run (after visiting the shrine (bundy factory)
    (REMLR 235/MVCA 9) 80" -'49.(RUST), -'50 & '52. (53-parts) 88" -57 s1, -'63 -s2a -GS x 2-"Horrie"-112-769, "Vet"-112-429(-Vietnam-PRE 1ATF '65) ('66, s2a-as UN CIVPOL), Hans '73- s3 109" '56 s1 x2 77- s3 van (gone)& '12- 110

Yes we'd all hope for a little of this. The sales person at MCLR is already enthusiastic about being involved in a Defender build, so I think I'm on a winner. Great story.

    Quick update:

    - Current build date for the new 110 order is a December build and a February delivery. Bring it on.

    - A little over a week ago I sent a long email to both LR Australia and LR UK letting them know the whole saga and what I thought of *****. No reply from either yet. I notice that the PO Box for LR Customer Service in Australia is a Brisbane one, and the guy who answered my 1800 call a few weeks ago was also in Brisbane. Makes me wonder if ***** are actually responsible for Australia-wide customer service!
