I wonder if there's room in the Deefer's engine bay for a TDV8 out of a RRS or a FFRR?

Whats that famous line,''tell him he's dreaming''. Pat
Well it sounds like the TDV8 conversion has been done, so they must have had a good angle grinder
Pete Bell in the UK has done it, but struggled to get it to run correctly.
Anyone put Tojo's 1HD or 1VD into puma? That sounds more suitable especially in AU.
An AULRO member, has put a 5.7 ls1 into a county with 37 inch muddies. He's using a Salisbury rear turnt into a 35 spline Dana 60 and county front axles. I'm not 100% but I think twisted etc in uk use Ashcroft gear on rover axles to handle ls1,2,3 transplants

Personally, I believe the front would possibly be an issue if you hammer it to much,( which could be hard to resist) but a common solution is a patrol front diff with ch/Molly cvs and axles. The rear Salisbury with hytuff and a Detroit should be fine to 35in tyres.
If it's $10-25,000 for a ls1-3, spending 1-3k on axles is still better than $200,000 plus for the uk built one.
Babs I'm not sure what you really want or what engine drivetrain you currently have , but for only $1200 , you can have a 2.2 ecu tuned (without any other mods) to 145kw/450nm.
It is very easy and still very cheap to add larger intercooler, exhaust, turbo mods to get over 170kw. Jaguar were doing it with very docile upgrade with the 2.2 without a single issue. That is actually a fair bit of grunt. They are getting an easy 177kw with the new 2.0 ingenium engine.
anyway good luck if you choose to do a V8/auto conversion, it will be watched with interest.
Cheers
