    Hi Mick.
I think they were around $700 delivered in three days from the Mother Land.
Im happy to pay that as they feel and look great, and won’t fall apart again!

    Santa’s been!

    Oohhh, Santa’s been!

Alloy bonnet strut kit from IRB UK (beautifully made!).

Stainless Sumo steering and track rods, Mega 2020 Rear Prop shaft, and Rear HD Camber corrected trailing arms with SuperPro bushes all from Gwyn Lewis.

I know what I’ll be doing over the next week!

I also fitted leather and alloy shift levers. Much nicer and won’t ever crack unlike the originals.

Just waiting on my new Momo steering wheel, Superior Engineering camber corrected Radius arms and BP51 fitment on 2 Jan 20, and that’s this stage of updating the undercarriage and drive train.

    Merry Christmas for tomorrow everyone.

    Ken

    Hi Tombie;
‘I hope you have more luck than me fitting the bonnet strut kit.
My bonnet is now out of line so I’ve got to fettle it.
‘It’s a great kit and will be fantastic once I sort my alignment out.
I hope it goes well mate.

Gwyn Lewis Rear Mega Prop Shaft 20 20

I swapped out the rear prop shaft for the most excellent Gwyn Lewis Mega Rear prop shaft fitted with 20 20 uni joints.

Cosmetics while the drive train and suspension are being upgraded.

White dial rings, much nicer than the dated silver and now matches my centre double din console.

    It’s the little things!

    Gwyn Lewis Sumo Track Rod

    Just replaced my Track rod on the Defender;

This Gwyn Lewis Sumo unit is massive, and stainless steel. Nice new greasable tie rod ends and it looks great.

My original must have had a knock as it’s bent!

I’ve the matching Sumo Drag arm which I am half way finished fitting as well, but it needs a 34mm socket to remove the original Drop arm, so a mercy dash to Bunnings in the morning.

I’m also fitting a Discovery 2 type drop arm, which is a better link type, once I can remove the original tomorrow.

The dreaded Drop Arm (Pitman) swap

Yep, 34mm sockets are like Rocking Horse poo.
I used a large shifter. Mongrel of a nut to remove, then a 6 inch three jaw puller.
Fidly, but I got it off after liberal WD40 soaking.
A good dose of copper grease will go on everything on reinstall.
The Sumo Steering arm in Stainless is so much stronger, and greasable joints!👍

Hi Tombie and Travelrover, Yep, I went back and found one at Supercheap!

I also fitted my new steering wheel today, as well as the steering track rod and new Discovery arm to the steering box.

Under the vehicle is all done now, and the BP51s’ and springs, shock turrets, rear pin to pin shock mounts etc get fitted on Thursday!

    Its all happening.

Im seriously disappointed with the service from Superior Engineering in BRISBANE re my camber corrected radius arms. Ordered on 13 DEC, still not posted, and poor customer service.

I ordered and received three large boxes from Gwyn Lewis in the UK in that time!

    Never again!

    Happy New Year all.

    Ken and Rufus.😉🐾
