Approved additional cleaning as requested (and half expected) by quarantine. Fair enough too - considering where the vehicle has been in its 3 short years, all the foreign plant matter and earth that's likely lurking in the crevices of the chassis and body work.

Off for two weeks next week. Night shift this week so some free time in the day, but not this morning. Offer still stands if you need help.
    Cheers, Billy.

Much appreciate the offer, Billy. Depending on when the quarantine, compliance, and rego are all completed - when I have a date that I can go collect the vehicle from the workshop I might check with you whether you are free. Probably done "need" help but any excuse for a beer/coffee and a "parking rules" photo opportunity.

Attempted and failed to lubricate a squeaky clutch pedal spring, it's starting to get annoying.

    Its not the spring.

if you pop the bonnet near the brake fluid bottle is a black rectangle plate with I think 6 screws holding it in place. You need to take this off and put some grease in their making sure it gets on that shaft. It will run down clutch cable and stop your squeak. I have to do it every so often to stop that annoying squeak.

That explains why it started a few weeks ago after I spent 6 hrs getting a mates idiot son and other morons out of multiple mud holes when they all decided to go 4wding when the aftermath of cyclone Debbie came through.
    Thanks for that.
    Cheers Ian

OK, So I'm sick of being very dusty at the end of a day out if I happen to be not at the head of the convoy. After thinking about how I might be able to fit a filter into the cabin air system somewhere I concluded that the easiest way would to be to put a snorkel sock on the inlet, all I needed was a snorkel.

Some scrap checkerplate cut to size and a piece of 50x3mm strap fashioned into a tube.

Tacked in place with the TIG

The unused snorkle head from SWMBO's jeep

Looks a bit industrial but it seems to generate a bit more flow with the fan off and might get some cooler air into the aircon for those hot days driving into the afternoon sun when the A/C seems to struggle a bit. I might etch prime it and paint it black too when I get a chance.

I'll order a snorkle sock to suit the head for dusty trips and report back whether it makes a difference.

    Regards,
    Tote

His works really well too. He has a foam type slip on cover over the head which he uses baby oil I think.

It'd be something I'd do too with the Defender if travelling a bit in convoys, but first one would need to check that the rest of the unit is sealed pretty well to, otherwise it won't work properly.

Muddy had no dust in his car at the end of Googs track,, unlike most of us,, although I do tend to drive with the window down a bit
