Found the time to drop the oil and filter. Been having excessive oil consumption, once almost bone dry and after last service down to lower third on dipstick. Land Rover indie said no excessive blow by, took turbo inlet hose off and turbo fine, no oil. The outlet might be a different story. Following suggestions from forum members I asked him to use a different oil, and make it 5W40. Asked for Penrite but he put in his usual brand to Ford spec. So I got sick of it and replaced it myself with Penrite HPR 5 Diesel 5W40. Now to see what happens re oil consumption.
Not sure what next step will be, injector seals? But no smoke, loss of power....fingers crossed Daisy will be happy with the Penrite and that will be the end of it.

Removed the winch to free up the free spool and replaced the wire rope with Dyneema and fitted a hawser fairlead.

Drove to Molong and back to pick up the grandkids. County went well, after putting the battery on charge overnight as a precaution - hasn't been used for nearly three weeks.
No issues - oldest girl, on 'L's drove from Molong to Wellington.
Noted that it is going well since the injectors were done last year.

Changed all oils & filters - engine, gearbox, transfer box, front & rear diffs - & greased unis. The only filter I didn't replace was the air filter, it was surprisingly clean so I returned the new one to the cupboard & gave the old one a blast of compressed air & returned it to serve a few more thousand kilometers.
The 'service pit' that I incorporated into my backyard retaining wall years ago was very welcome & saved my back once again.

Not today, but as this thread doesn't get as much action as it used to, this will be happening in the next week or 2.
Just waiting on some other bits.![]()
