also, spares box has 20% off store wide ends today.
which pushed me over the line, and I've just ordered the front kit
Air Bag Suspension | Sparesbox
I mean adjustable panhard rod, corrected radius arms?
I was considering this but I have a big question
So the air system change the ride height by changing spring rate. (Right?
Subsequently you will have a very soft spongy wobbly ride when sitting low;
And a very stiff hard ride when sitting high?
This doesn't make sense to me as one would prefer a stiff ride when low (on highway etc..
And a soft ride low spring rate when off-road?
How was the ride of you jack up the psi to a 2 inch lift? Any flex at all?
Cheers
Martin
No. The air pressure won’t change much with height. Spring rate will be higher when lower.
I have my ARB twin compressor under the driver seat box. When the car's running you can hardly hear it. Beware though, it gets hit in there, so either remove the seat and lid for extended use, or fit ventilation fans.
For a 2” lift I don’t see too many people fitting adjustable panard or cranked radius.
I only have bags on the rear.....therefore I don’t adjust up or down, I just level the car and leave it at that.
I installed the bags for when we pull up we can level the car before we put the Poptop up, no need to carry leveling ramps.
I have found the ride better....
I suspect that if I I install bag on the front I wouldn’t be adjusting up and down....in touring mode there is no need, plus defenders still have diffs so jacking it up doesn’t really give any benefit.
I believe you need to run at least one sway bar.
that's what my tiny brain was thinking also. raising or lowering, the weight of the car is the same so same force required to support it. i'm assuming for the most part the airbags behave like pistons with the air acting on the diameter of the top cap of air bag so +/- you are really only changing the volume in the air bag and not the pressure. Can someone straighten me out here??
Yes. The pressure is close to the same. As the volume decreases, the spring rate goes up. So as you lower, the spring becomes stiffer. The amount of increase depends on the style of the lower seat.
