Funny how it never happens from eating too many salt and vinegar chips, but soon as you mix salt, lime and tequila the salt and lime start doing their evil thing.

And beetle nut mixed with lime has the same effect.

With crisps I usually stick to the plain sea salted (Maldon gourmet sea salt preferred).

abaddonxi

Hi Simon,

What's your doctoral thesis about?

Gordon

Point of view in feature film scriptwriting. I'm still waiting - since start of October - on marks on my MA in creative writing - scriptwriting. The doctorate will be a move into film theory. There seems to be a niche for scriptwriting theorists that is yet to be exploited.

The jolly thing is that it also leads to stuff about the perception of film scripts as stand-alone texts that you might read for pleasure as you would a play, and into ideas about film authorship - always a hot topic.

Cheers

Ahh, but how long ?

The Question

How long do stars live? I am 7 years old.
The Answer

Stars live different lengths of time, depending on how big they are. A star like our Sun lives for about 10 billion years, while a star which weighs twenty times as much lives only 10 million years, about a thousandth as long.

Depend on if they take their bearskin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bearskin) hats off.

The standard bearskin of the British Foot Guards is 18 inches (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inch) tall, weighs one and a half pounds (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pound_%28mass%29) and is made from the fur of the Canadian black bear (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Black_Bear).

Too bad I can't spell.

i did some work for cirque du soliel when it was in sydney a couple of years ago, they use tirfors to hold their big tents up. about 20 or more. so if you can't afford to buy one, they probably wouldn't miss one when they've got that many.
seriously though, they use the real thing rather than the cheaper copies. maybe they get a good deal on them coming from the french speaking part of canadia (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/technical-chatter/28075-hand-winchs-2.html#post409275), or maybe they know something about the copies that we don't?????????????/
