    Nankeen Night Heron

    The Nankeen Night Heron Nycticorax caledonicus are resting during the day in dense bushes near lagoons and swamps and hunting during the night.
    This is a male with breeding plumaje.

    Actually, we had one flying around Adelaide city when it escaped from the zoo! Fortunately, it was retrieved by zoo-keepers the next morning. All of these shots were of captive birds. Thanks for your comments.
