Well said Jose.
I will also say I am very happy with your remap on my car and would recommend it highly.

Douglas,
I don't know who you are, but I run a legitim and serious business here! 90% of my remaps are maps with little or no smoke and that its just simple as that! Upon request, there are a few cars wich are tunned above that wich make smoke! Apart from Ben Gierke wich has a big vnt turbo there is no one in Australia wich have remaps with the power or smoke like the cars in the video!
I have made remaps to cars that were already remapped, giving more power and lowering egts, but you don't hear me saying that the previous tuners were bad professionals!
Coming here and just saying that "some people's" are contacting you because of the smoke means nothing to me and should meant nothing to everybody unless you put names on them!
I very much respect the behaviour, personality and way of the Australian people, specially the fact that they share they'r experience in regarding products/companies. Making a quick search in this forum, all I can read is exactly the opposite of what you are saying!
I'm always available to talk and discuss maps and improvements and don't charge extra for more than one map, so if someone is not fully satisfied with my map we will do it agai and again!
There is a costumer there in Australia, wich car was already remapped by another companies and he ask us to do it again because he was not satisfied! I think I've made him 6 or 8 maps and I'm willing to continue doing some more till he is satisfied! Of course in this or other cases, impossibles cannot be made and people cannot expect to have lots of power when cruising @ arround 40km/h in 5th gear just by putting the foot down without changing gear!
I would very much appreciated if you just don't come here and say bad things about our companie based on... Well, I really don't know what!
Regards
Well said Jose.

My name is not Douglas.
If 90% of your maps are smoke free, then why do you show *extremely* smokey maps when asked about 500Nm on a TD5?
For reference I'm a mechanical engineer with a heavy interest in tuning. I tune my diesels myself. I have spent a lot of time reverse engineering the airflow and power of many diesels for the purpose of turbo matching and performance prediction.
This work allows me to reasonably accurately predict the power, boost and A/F ratio requirements for many uprated engines. Showing what is and isn't possible and calling BS when I see it.
That person can reveal themselves if they wish.
Hang on.
There was a discussion here on boost required for torque. You were not involved.
You've jumped in, posted extremely smokey videos and now complain about the discussion?
That's not a good way for a vendor to act on a forum.
Perhaps because 90% of the people who go to Jose for re-maps don't go to him for 500Nm out of a stock turbo?
99% even?
There are plenty of people who are extremely happy with Jose and the folks at Td5Inside, and not just your amateur weekend spanner droppers like me, people who have a fair idea of what's going on under the bonnet (i.e Pete and Don).
I jumped in to the discussion because my companie name popped in to it, as simple as that! I´ve also posted videos of my very own car with NO smoke! In all cases I was not rude in anyway and did not try to give companies a bad name!
I'll end my intervention here! Td5inside@gmail.com is always available for costumer service and general talk/informations!
Regards
Gents I think this is a really good hijack of someones thread.
For the record I have had Jose working on some tuning for me and I am very happy with his attitude and respect his tuning skills.
I have communicated with Dougal simply asking the question about Diesel smoke and its negative effects.
Like Jose I greatly respect Dougal's opinion he is not just on AULRO but on many other forums that I have visited and clearly his technical advice is highly sought and respected
My car has a VNT it has larger intercooler and all the normal fruit, with Jose's tuning I am very much in awe of the performance but have had issues with smoke down low.
I have tried to communicate my issues with Jose and he has been very patient with me at this point we haven't arrived.
I come from a background of driving V8s that have huge amounts of torque when hence Jose's comment about driving at 40 Kmh in 5th gear.
I was beginning to wonder if it was my driving style.
Over time I have had tuning done by most of the top tuners on the Land Rover scene, Jose's approach was different and he has come up with an exceptional result with some fine tuning that needs to be done.
Maybe I am looking for something that doesn't exist but I would like a tune with power something like Jose's but without antisocial smoke when taking off from a standing start, with Jose's help I am sure this will happen.
None of the other tuners have done a map that even comes near this tune so please don't take this as negative against Jose.
I am not a disgruntled customer.
Duane
Not just antisocial:
Empa - a592-2012-08-05-de-MM-Dieselruss - Krebs erregende Alltagssubstanz – Gefhrlichkeit neu eingestuft - Empa-Rntgenexperte entschlsselt Dieselruss.Since June 2012, it is official: The World Health Organisation (WHO) has classified diesel soot as a lung carcinogen. ...
The WHO response
The results of the study were quite unambiguous: The "bare" soot particles triggered a genetic detoxification mechanism in the cell cultures. The cells had therefore been under “toxic attack”. However, the washed out substances previously adhering to the soot also exhibited an effect: they caused inflammatory reactions in the cells and also acted as a cellular toxin. The World Health Organization (WHO) responded simultaneously. A number of new studies – including those by Braun and his colleagues from Norway and the USA – had indicated the carcinogenic effect of soot and sufficiently explained the underlying mechanisms.
It was now no longer possible to speak, as had been the case since 1988, of a probable risk of cancer ("probably carcinogenic to humans"). Reclassification followed on 12 June 2012. Diesel soot is now considered a cause of lung cancer "based on sufficient evidence"; what’s more, there is a certain probability that diesel soot also increases the risk of bladder cancer.
Duane,
Thanks for your input! The case I related a few posts above of 6 to 8 remaps was exactly yours and I suspected that the "people" complaining was exactly you, since the inputs I received via email were pretty much the same posted here by Douglas! We come to the point when people complaining are in fact only one, and by reading your post, perhaps that its none, wich makes me very happy an proud!
As stated I will continue to try and make my best to give you the map you desired! Of course, as I also said there are thinks that simply cannot be done!
This said, I believe Douglas should give ago itself in order to give you a remap exactly has you request, with great power at very low rpm! This for my it's the best way of proving a point of view, going out there and doing bigger and better!
You will have a full refund if that happens... Same power output that my map gives you at 1000rpm with no smoke, with same turbo boost!
Regards,
Who is Douglas?
Killing smoke is dead easy, these ECU's like every other have air/fuel calibration tables, often known as "smoke maps". For an engine to smoke like the videos above it has been effectively disabled.
So set the air/fuel tables to a sensible A/F ratio across the board and smoke goes away. It is that simple. A sensible A/F ratio also keeps EGT in control.
To get more power, you have to do the logical thing and increase airflow so the ECU can then increase fuel to match. This is where turbo sizing is critical.
You cannot tune your way around a turbo that can't provide the boost required at the rpm required.
iPhone is correcting Dougal to Douglas every time! Sorry for that!
Being so easy to kill the smoke, please give that a go and make a map with same power output and no smoke! I already told Duane we could get the smoke completely off, but we cannot do that having the same power output and having the same components he have at the moment! Its very easy to come here and talk an giving numbers an figures but when that transforms in to a Company/Costumer comercial relationship things are a bit different because you have to satisfied them and justify the money they pay you on one hand, but on the other hand, you cannot do miracles or the impossible like people ask sometimes. Even tough I always go back to basics and try hard and hard to get as near as possible of that miracle!
