Time wasn't really on my side, and two stubs with less than perfect seals areas meant greased bearings were the easy option. Will probably revert to oiled bearings when I have more time to replace/repair the stubs.

Checked and adjusted my tappets (only 2 required adjustment ) and tightened a couple of exhaust manifold nuts chasing a suspected leak.

    Another day of maintainance.
Found the scraping noise in front end (2 actually ) ,
brake mudshield was bent and rubbing on disc and anti squeal shim from brake pad came loose and rubbing on hub.
    Hub was also loose .

    Manifold gaskets

Spewing, over 4 hrs just to change the drivers side exhaust manifold gaskets,
With most of the gas conversion pipes and hoses in the way and the tin type lock tabs a pain in the butt too... Lots of praying as in " don't snap don't snap" finally got it off
..putting it back together Ive never had bolts try to cross thread as this did. finally got it back together. I've never heard an exhaust leak sound so much like a crook lifter. Glad it wasn't, well apart from my arms rubbed raw and back crook, all good. It's never ran so quiet.

I was so surprised how much the exhaust leak sounded like a lifter also. I didn't have any dramas swapping my manifold or down pipe gaskets though, guess I got lucky.

If it's a V8 you can get to the manifold 2 bottom front bolts with a long extension bar from either side of the shockie tower in the wheel well, if that makes sense, or if you don't have gas it's probably very easy.

dont understand how people get bogged on sand. discos are more than capable. ive never had a bog bad enough that i couldnt get myself out of in less than a few minutes.

on mud i have once. but with at tyres. needed a d3 to get me out.

My bad really. Didn't initially air down low enough on both the Disco and camper. Main track was easily driveable, but the windblown sand was even a hard slog to walk in! Sand tracks and a little shovel work and mobile again :-)
