I think from memory 1" is easy 2" may need radiator brackets extending and possibly a little work to the steering shaft.....
however I dont know about Vic but in NSW you can not body lift a SRS car and it be legal.
just thought I better mention
currently have a 2inch spring lift in my 300tdi D1 and looking at doing a 2inch body lift as well. Now i was just wondering the pro's and con's of doing this lift and are there cheaper ways to go about doing it. Is it as simple as unbolting where the body is and sliding new spacers in???
many thanks
simon

Well i was looking at either 1inch or 2inch, if 1 is easier then that sounds good as i'm a little under funded at the momentbut i'm not sure on the laws here in vic, have not heared anything about it but have seen a many of srs trucks with body lifts applied. cheers for the head up though matey.

Hey Simon. A body lift with air bags i'm told is illegal. I put a 1" lift in and it was not hard but i do have to pack the load area supports yet. If you want to check it out your welcome. Cheers Brett
The pro's & cons mmmmmmmm
Well lets start with the obvious Pro's....
-More room to fit bigger tires
-The body is higher from the ground, helping to avoid damage while traversing rough terrain.
- Looks tough as nails
Con's
-It's a landy, it has body roll built in due to the great articulating suspension, the higher you go the worse it gets.
- Higher to get in & out of, if your missus has to get in & out regulary..... make sure you ask 1st....
-Don't fit under shopping centres
Really I guess you have to be honest with your self....... do you really need it for the type of 4wding you do ??
If you can answer that, then you just about answered it for yourself, regardless of the pro's & con's.
What types of body lifts....... LRA do the white tiger 2.5" lift, very comprehensive & by far the strongest body lift I have seen. Although a little exxy on the pocket.
They have a great set of instructions, you can also use them to help if you are making your own body lift
I made a 2" lift for mine using poly blocks with steel crush tubes, it has served me well with no problems, it's still in there.
I made all the blocks for under $100, can't remember what the bolts cost me. But the install was easy enough. We just jacked up one side of the vehicle at a time, slipped in the spacers & new bolts & let it back down. Easy as.
I made a couple of spacers to go under the radiator, basically I got a piece of 2" rhs, drilled a hole on one side to slip over the stud at the bottom that the radiator fits over & then welded a stud on the top side of the rhs for the radiator to refit to.
Doesn't look the prettiest, but it has been everywhere with me since with no worries at all, I did machine up a couple of steel spacers on the lathe & had all intentions of replacing the rhs jobies I made, but never needed to. & before you ask, I gave them to my brother when he did his lift
All in all if you are in the rocks every weekend........ go for it.
Hope some of this helps![]()
Cons: more room for tyres which equals larger tyres = more strain on drivetrain = more likely to break an axle etc.
Unless you plan on upgrading to a maxi/arb with axles then honestly i dont think its worth the hassles, 32" fit fine and will get you into enough trouble.![]()
