i have constant three amigos i believe as a result of squeeky brakes and pad dust / anti squeek gak built up near the sensors anh i just ran a little test to see if the abs still works for the missus piece of mind.

found a patch of gravel and put the pedal on hard to try and make it skid. but the brake pedal did its ABS actuating surges/vibrations (backing of the brakes) thing so it appeared as though the ABS was still activated/working...

though this is by far no means a difinative test and im sure it depends on what is wrong with your system and what if anything is malfunctioning.

yeah i was thinking it would be a bit of overkill to disable the systems just because something might not (or might actually) be working.

just had new discs and pads put on. the old pads where apparently problematic. (old style lucas)

new ones put on according to 'roving mechanic' dont have the same problems. - new TRW's

the error code causing the amigos was 'right front sensor intermittent'

reset and hasnt come back (1 day only though)

hopefully from squeeking. though mechanic says with an error like that it can quite often be some play in the hub itself effecting the gap between the sensor and the surface it monitors. this mainly happens on front hubs.

solution would be to replace hub.

just wait and see if the amigos stay away for now.

I had the same problem with RDA brake pads. One of the clips holding the pad in place got loosen and was touching a disk when braking. This produced a loud squeak noise and all three lights went on. Can't remember the code, but it was something like 'can't read the signal properly' code. Replaced the pads with LR parts and the problem is solved. Regards J

Hi all,at the risk of getting a ""read the good oil",my mates 00 d2 has no cdl and NO. 3 amigos, and it is amazingly capable off road, almost no wheelspin b4 TC kicks in!at low engine rpm, leaves my 03 with cdl AND 3amigoes for dead. Fault code on mine reads shuttle valve fault, and my TC is virtually useless,my question is (I've read heaps on the 3 bad boys, couldn't find this answer) does option B restore the traction control effectively or does it just stop the lights?,Ive been quoted $1200.00 to replace SV kit,but I want the TC to work properly, any ideas?
    Thanks and cheers Gregg

    Two birds one stone

    Gregg

We can kill the two birds here...tomorrow. Everything works as it should and as you said it just stops the lights.

    Regards
    Andrew
