Most cars you see doing deep water crossings pull up on the other side, open the door and lo and behold water floods out.

The D2 auto ecu is in a dire position and the door seals are woeful, potentially a show stopper.

Forum member Wardy had his day out ruined by water in his auto ecu down in Victoria once he was bogged.

I'd definitely be sealing up the slits at the bottom of the door seal. A piece of rubber/rope and sikaflex will improve the sealing.

I've read that some swap out the seal from the windows down with a rear door seal - apparently it's a larger size. You will need to adjust the door to make it close properly.

You won't need one of those, they're for poms whos idea of off-roading is to go drown cars in muddy water in old quarries.
Relocating the auto ECU isn't a bad idea, here's a link.

Regarding the door seals, get some clear plastic tubing or fly screen 'splice' and feed it through the cavity in the door seals. Then silicone up the split along the lower section.

Being an electronics technician, the price of this cable makes me angry. It would cost approx $5-10 to make that cable, and that is if it is make in the UK.

Seeing things like this make me not want to buy their chassis mount winch cradle anymore.

Jeez guys, he's only going to the Cape, not crossing the Indian Ocean

There's 2 crossing to prepare for, Nolans and one just before it, they are the deepest, the rest are a doddle, just remember don't go charging into the water at a million miles an hour and you'll be fine.
