If you've benefited from one or more of my posts please remember, your taxes paid for my skill sets, I'm just trying to make sure you get your monies worth.
If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
The Windbooster does not enhance the boost signal. All it does is it manipulates the throttle position. For example at 50% throttle it actually outputs 80% in the max setting mode, or as little as 30% in the Eco mode. 0% is still 0%, and 100% is still 100%.
You get the same effect by just using more (or less) throttle under the same conditions. So if you want more power, just push down of the throttle more, or if you want less, use less throttle. The Windbooster is doing the exact same to the throttle output signal.
TD5 Disco's already have one - press your Sports mode button !!! (this changes the throttle response profile)

Well, that may or may not be true..... All I can say is I borrowed one b4 buying it and installed it as I was of the same opinion as you (as everyone thinks too).... The first test drive of it and I was hooked. You did not have to push your all the way down to get a "quick" response. It's much more easier to drive (driveability was) and u don't have to remember to always push your foot to the floor, unlike my old Tdi Disco.... There is no lag to speak of and the missus loves it too.... It was a added benefit for the missus as she's a bit short in height and would struggle to push the pedal to the floor every time.
For the little amount u pay compared to a chip and the possible risks that go along with that (ie: speaking of the Toyota D4D here) I was sold and I've never looked back & I don't ever think I will bother with a Chip either....
Lol.
Chips for toyotas are just fuel dumping piston melters for dem extra berriez m8.
A proper ECU remap will deliver excellent results, safely, for hundreds of thousands of km. Why on earth would you pay for something that you can achieve by manipulating your ankle a little bit more and pushing a button?

Agreed to the chipping.... chipping a D4d engine is not a good thing and I don't ever plan to do it while we own it at least.... the Wind Boost was the quickest and cheapest to get what we wanted + no effect on the warranty should the dreaded knock happens
Paying the small amount to make the car respond like u want to was fine with me.....
BTW: What does a "proper" remap cost these days??
How can changing throttle response output remove Lag? It can't!
The phenomenon you're describing is "right boot lag" - if you pressed further you'd get the same result.
Unless someone has a busted right ankle which restricts movement. this unit is WOFTAM...
As mentioned - sport mode modifies the profile, as does putting the vehicle in low range..
Sport - quicker response - less travel required
Low range - softer response (less jerky when crawling) - more travel required.
Well, all I can say is what I've said before..... the vehicle is a lot more driveable with it than without it.... Yes, u can sink the right boot in more & probably get the same effect, but the point is u don't have to. Remember, I was a bit doubtful too b4 I had the chance to try it.... but once I installed it, that was it, I found what I was looking for, w/o having to install any chips, remaps (I'm not even sure u can remap a Toyota - I never bothered to look).
LR's are obviously very different and a lot more flexible in this area but for us at the time when we 1st bought the car 5yrs ago it was the easiest & cheapest solution to achieve what we were looking at the time.... I can't really say any more than that.... Was it the right way to go..... for us at the time - yes.
I know other D4d owners that have chipped their engines to get more out of them and have it end up costing them dearly..... I took the safer option to gain what we were looking for at the time....
