So all this does is switch on/off?
Is it possible to run some form of gauge off it?
Modern motors dungog have me sorted.
You guys where on the money with the sensor. They replaced the sensor on the cooler. This is probably the only thing that wasn't replaced when I had the auto recon.
Thanks to everyone who have provided advise or offered to help. This is probably the reason I have owned landy's all my life.

Yes, only on-off at the set temperature. No output for a gauge to read.
Would be great to find a sensor that fit the same place.

Should be easy enough to do.
A lot of vehicles have a sender that does the guage and also warning lght
1 2 NPT Sensor Water Oil Temp Sender Unit Temperature Sender for Gauge | eBay
ESPS & ESTS combined resistive sender and fault switch, engine presssure and temperature | Murphy by Enovation Controls (EMEA region)
Does a nanocom evo have the ability to read the auto temp?
It appears to read coolant and engine temp.
No, it can only do the fuel temp and coolant temps. That is because the sender unit for auto temp has no gauge output.
Cheers Scott
I have a TM4 Twin Vehicle Order Form fitted to mine. The gearbox temperature is measured where the oil leaves the torque converter & the engine under a bolt on the head. These temperatures have completely changed the way I drive with regard to keeping the TC locked where possible & even manually changing to 3rd when travelling at around 70kmh.
+ 2016 D4 TDV6
Hi all
About 18 months ago, the transmission warning light on my 2003 D2 TD5 dash came on during a trip. I pulled aside and let it cool down for a few minutes and the light disappeared. Up until about 4 weeks ago, I never saw the warning light again and it all seemed fine. Looking at my records, the trans oil was replaced about 75000kms ago, and is due for replacement at the next service which is in two months time.
Fast forward, about 4 weeks ago I towed a 2 tonne caravan for the first time to test my new electric brakes. It was all fine until I drove up a moderate hill and locked the transmission to 3rd gear. The warning light came on. I did not panic and did everything according to the owners manual. Pulled aside and let it idle and the light disappeared like last time.
I'd like to know what might be causing this issue. Is it the possibly degraded trans oil or the temp sensor at the oil cooler, or both? Having seen this happen twice over 18 months doesn't give me the confidence to tow anything heavy until I resolve this issue. I'd greatly appreciate your thoughts on this.
Cheers
C
Apart from the obvious change the oil, maybe its time for an additional or larger replacement ATF cooler - worked for me (large addition in front of the coolant radiator).
See also the Ashtrans site for ATF operating temp range (77 - 93 with minimum 66 Celcius, and max 135 for very short periods).
