I don't think our Hiline was the same bloke.
Just had another look and Google Earth street view shows 2010 Hiline there, then in 2015 gone.....
I don't think our Hiline was the same bloke.
2002 D2 4.6L V8 Auto SLS+2" ACE CDL Truetrac(F) Nanocom(V8 only)
rang hi line, number disconnected. Seems he is no longer trading and in business.
Will continue my journey north to NSW border and perhaps beyond today.
I did mention to the Mech several times it appeared to be down on power.....
When I first got it, at times if you went to overtake someone, there was no power. Also I got it delivered via tilt tray, again it hardly made it up that.
He told me the MAF was filthy and that he had cleaned it out.
you cab unplug the MAF & drive it, it just goes into a Default mode but it will log a fault for that on the nanocom

If you've bypassed the boost modulator make sure the hose goes from the metal intercooler pipe to the boost actuator on the turbo , if you have some spanners it would also be worth checking to make sure the wastegate isn't stuck partially open , make sure its free , if it is then shorten the actuator rod until you count around 11-12 threads , go for a drive and check boost . check your map sensor is clean first
Cheers
also take disco dB's advice on how to check your throttle pedal readings
Could also be a fuel pump on the way out if it won't rev over 2500. I'd replace the boost modulator, map and maf when you can. Check wastegate rod for sticking and also hoses for delamination and cracks. I replaced the small tubes to the modulator etc with silicon tubing. Works a treat.
Good luck on the trip back.![]()
If you make it to Sydney and need some help on the spanners I can help if needed - Bondi though so right in the middle.
I have a TD5 Defender and have fixed most of these issues. Mostly minor things. Hope it isn't too serious!

Hi All,
Made it to Narooma today, was hard going in the hills etc.
Sat on mostly 80 and when going up hills I tried to keep revs around 2500.
At this revs I still had some boost, but after 2700 it drops off to zero.
My gut is that its a mechanical thing. The Nanocom shows one fault for Driver Demand, but I think its probably that the boost is dropping Off. Also on the Nanocom instruments page, there is a wastegate display. This is always zero.
I managed to get a lock underneath and found a lot of oil etc near the bullbar and in the wheel well. But I couldnt see the hose or the clamp.
Fuel economy doesnt seem to be too bad. Just under a halve tank left and done I think about 500 odd kms.
I think the pump has been replaced in the last 12 months and the MAF was suppose to be cleaned. Mech said it was ok
Thanks for the offer joefriend. I will see how I go, I do have a mate in Newcastle although he knows nothing about Land Rovers......
No probs mate, I work Monday to Friday but happy to help when I can. Glad you are getting somewhere at least.
If you are thinking about it, PM me and I will give you my mobile number to organise. If you get to your mate, it might be a case of both of you not knowing haha
