It still could be the pump. If it was replaced by a spectromatic or a lucas it could well be on the way out. Does it run a little better with a full tank.
John
Joefriend, you could be right......
But timing and the thought of driving around Sydney will probably rule it out.
Probably be in Newcastle on Friday and fix over the weekend.

You will be sorry if you break down stuck somewhere, trying to get to Newcastle
You are probably more than lucky its gotten you as far as it has.
You said your mate has no knowledge of the TD5, go to someone who has!!
If Sydney puts you off, make sure you arrive their off peak...![]()

If you are coming up the coast road, you might have a problem north of Wollongong at Bulli Pass or Mt Ousley. They are long and steep.

RIP Bucko - Riding on Forever
Well I am in Maitland.........
Had several big hills/mountains where I had to work on getting up. Around 2200 to 2500 rpms I was able to get up them. Bit slower I think it should have been.
I followed another disco TD5 for a while, he often pulled away from me.
So also did some checks on the Nanocom. Still learning but did some checks on the fuel input pages.
Around 100kpa ambient pressure.
Manifold Air Pressure was any where from 120kpa odd to 230kpa odd. It would get up to about 230kpa around 2700rpm and then drop to 100 odd
What you are possibly seeing happen here is you are getting into overboost and the ECU is going into limp mode. Either that or an IC hose is collapsing on itself, or a fuel pump problem.
Do you know if it has a remap or if the mechanic played around with adjusting the wastegate actuator. Prior to it losing all boost, are you blowing black smoke? Is this happening only at full throttle?
Your getting approx 16psi boost.
Are they still rubber intercooler hoses? They like to delaminate.
WARNING LONG POST
Well 3000 dollars later, we have some progress.
By the time I am finished it will be the most expensive D2 in Australia.... Plus will have reviewed several LR mechs along the way.
Seems it was going into over boost and the modulator was broke.
Then found out several other things..... All pretty common Disco stuff, some I knew this vehicle had and others I didn't. Remember it already had nearly 3k spent in Melbourne, where any obvious leaks etc where to be fixed.....
Things done in Maitland.
Re-coed Transfer case with mod so it should never leak again
Rear Diff Pinion Seal. It looks to be leaking for a long time
New Tom Woods front driveshaft( I supplied this )
New coolant inlet top of engine.
New shaft between transmission and transfer case
Transmission rear seal
LT230 extend sump
Exhaust Manifold machined and fix broken studs.
Plus several other small things.
So I thought, well this should be it and can now relax enjoy trip home.....
Not to be
Went to Stockton today. Ambient Air Temp around 22 degrees.
Got halve way up Stockton and temp gauge started moving towards red zone.
Nanocom was reading about 115 to 118.
So off with the A/C, stopped and went into fast idle for about 10 minutes, brining it down to around 98.
Vehicle always seems to sit a bit higher than others report. Often in the Mid 90`s. Pushing it and it climbs above 100.
I thnk it has a relevantly new radiator.
Any clues?
Viscous fan not working too well?
How old is your thermostat?
