Started easily once the belt was dropped off.
When cranking did yours do one decent crank then slowly start to die?

I ran out the synthetic rope on the new winch and pulled the truck uphill to tension the new rope so that I won't have any drama's if I have to use it in anger.
Also starting to load some gear for a trip to Sharks bay for a few days while the weather is still good.

Finally got annoyed enough to replace the lamps in the radio (Eurovox 5880R). Got in touch with Go Tech and had them send me out new bulbs. Today I thought I'd be left alone enough to get the radio out which was easy with my new hi tech bits of bent coat hanger. Then the fun really started. There's nine little leaded bulbs that are soldered in. Tools required are small Phillips head screw driver, desoldering tool, a very fine point soldering iron and a pair of tweezers. A bright light and decent eyesight are really handy too. It's a time consuming and fiddly job. While I was at it I gave the CD player bit a good clean.
After two hours and a fair bit of swearing and cursing it was with great trepidation that I put the radio back in the car. Entered the code and SUCCESS all lamps are now working and CD's no longer universally give errors.
Now all I need to do is to change a coolant hose and fit my brand spanking new Tom Woods front prop shaft.
    Cheers,

Initially it cranked, fired and stalled immediately after stopping for less than ten minutes.
Prior to this I didn't hear a noise.

Thereafter it just cranked more and more slowly.
Hooked it up to Hilux and it cranked a little faster and then slowed quickly, just like a flat battery or a stuffed/polling starter motor, but never fast enough to fire.
It also popped up with an Auto fault (can't recall now what it was) that really threw me (the M&S lights flashed)

Ok so I wasn't to confident in doing belt and decided to take starter off and I think it's my problem as when cranking all pulleys move fine
The starter when taken off its tight when it rotates in crank and shaft pulls out and I can freely move it opposite way

    The SC80 is here.

The SC80 arrived, I've found a good place to mount it, drivers side on the inside of the fender. I might need one of those fabled 90 degree drill things, or remove wheel and liner to drill the holes for it.

Then why did is stall? Is the starter gear stuffed?
