As the d2 is a very reliable car well the Td5 is (Not V8`S)

I walked past mine, jumped in a work Toyota and drove to a future mine site
It's a bucket but the 1HD is nice.
Oh and tonight I finished this...
Replaced pads with Akebono, rotors with Delios, and entire caliper assemblies due to a tear in the piston boots on both sides, and the front slide being stuck/jammed also on both sides.

I drove to work, that happens five days a week. Checked the coolant level, no change, checked the oil level, it could be down about 2mm from about 3 months ago. The oil and coolant get checked about once a week at the end of the working day.

Headliner replacement on hold due to a kids birthday party.

    Thumbs up

My Disco 2 started making a Clickitty clickitty sound.

Loud. High frequency. Sounded kind of metallic and expensive.

I revved it in Transfer neutral, got underneath and looked for rocks in the brakes, debris etc... Couldn't see anything and was lamenting the passing of my transmission. This sound was getting louder and louder and we were starting to get worried.

So I had another look underneath, tested the drive shafts and wiggled stuff.

No trace. Definitely the tranny or transfer. Maybe a wheel hub....

Then today, before we took it to work.. I got underneath and saw.... that the
"Serviced by Hardy Spicer" sticker had started to peel off and the last bit was hanging in there and must have been out of sight on the other TWO previous trips underneath. It had been flicking the muffler. Left a little spot of shiny metal there.

So I peeled it off. That was the easiest fix EVER.

It made me even more worried it's dead.

Still looking into my miss fire from 3 weeks ago - I don't drive it.

I threw a new set of leads and plugs at it just cause I didn't know the condition of the leads, they tested fairly average, and even though champions are the recommended plug... I wouldn't put them in my lawn mower.

The miss was evident by starting it from cold , run for 15 seconds and shut off. Every header was warm except #1 - No BANG there. Done the leads and plugs. Still happens.

Electrically the injector in fine - have pinned it out from the fuse panel to the ECM - all the injectors read about 16 ohm. within spec.

So this only leaves 2 options really. The injector is blocked / internally stuff, or #1 has just crapped itself and lost all compression.

Here's a photo of the new plugs after running for 5 minutes (Number 1 vs number 3) as you can see. no bang bang going on in number 1, shes still shiney.

Guess it's off to buy a compression tester tomorrow. This is going to make the missus happy, I've only done 300km since I bought it!

I was in Lithgow and was convinced that mine had cracked a flex plate...
It was the heat shield for the transfer case mount, cracked and vibrating against the exhaust

I finally got the rear internal lamp working. And drove two sons to soccer at different venues and bought some shock cord at Bunnings in readiness for the headliner change over next Saturday.
