3 day long weekend spent in and under "Leaky" the Land Rover. New gasket to fix the oil cooler leak on the block, new exhaust gasket to fix the exhaust leak, only broke one stud getting the manifold off. Replaced coolant, oil filters and oil. Fuel filter was done as well, left a trail of diesal to my daughters and back, water sensor just didn't want to seal up. Auto tranny filter replaced, emptied out 3l's and took 5 to refill..... Greased drive shafts. A few minor niggles, turbo oil feed banjo bolt not sealing up, gave the washers a quick rub with emry paper, will do until i get new washers, coolant bleed screw weeping, will order a metal one. Next weekend is fuel cooler O'rings again and front cam shaft plug O ring again. Put the catch can back on again, I may have "but not admitting anything" put the in and out hoses the wrong way last time. Trying to convince my mechanic he wants to do the the rear main and torque converter seals. Got some some more trips coming up and sick of leaving my "Brand Mark" in peoples driveways.

Just got back from our central Australia trip. Was supposed to go via Madigans Line to Birdsville, but 40km past Old Andado the Nanocom alarmed at 94 degrees, causing me to check the warning lights and saw the alternator light was on. Stopped immediately and saw this:

Except power steering fluid was ‘everywhere’. The power steering pump shaft had sheered off 1/2 way. We mucked around for a while trying to bypass the pump but couldn’t do it. A friend towed me back to Old Andado Station where we waited for 2 days for the nice Kulgera Roadhouse mechanic to bring us a new one from Alice Sprigs.

So...our friends continued on with their trip and after 2 days we went to Alice Springs, Saunders Gorge, Palm Valley, Boggy Hole, Kings Canyon, Uluru and the Olgas. The car didn’t miss a beat for the rest of the trip. The 4wd track through Boggy Hole was as described by my wife “you make it look easy”. Not me...the TD5 D2 with CDL and 15psi in the tyres. Didn’t even spin a wheel!

    Also:

Plus no issues with the Brown Davis LR tank on the trip

The main one that stood out was bouncy rear suspension on some bumps over 80 ks and i had changed 2 pair of shocks trying to sort it .

The next was under steer and vague steering .

Some time`s when reversing out of certain drive ways you would get a knocking noise which sounded like a shocker bush but it wasn`t

And the obvious was just check it for play which can be done by lying under neath it and wiggle the rods
Replacing it has transformed the ride

I'll do everyone a favour and not supply a link. They've finally arrived, what absolute rubbish! They are made ffrom semi-hardened GladGlad Wrap, have only 15mm bubble and don't fit my car properly. They are going backback for a refund.
If any of you good folk want a link, in order that you may avoid these third rate products, PM me.
The dash mat is pretty ordinary too, but I can live with that.

Picked up my new rear bumper from Ben at APT today. He customized his design, to mount a couple of LED work lights supplied by me. The lights will be wired for use as reversing lights. It was a bit fiddly, adjusting the lights to flush mount them, so they don't look like an afterthought or add-on, but I got there.

Egine and transmission serviced, new FPR and harmonic balancer fitted yesterday. It's been a reasonably productive couple of days.

Chris, can you please post a picture of your weather-shields?
