Can you believe that they made TVs in Wodonga into the mid 80’s!
Yes I can, seeing I was the CTV product manager for a short time during the sellout to Sanyo Japan and the closing of the plant.
It was the compulsory move to Sydney as there was a Japanese school there that caused me to take retrenchment and be reemployed by Ford Australia.
BTW it would have been 1980-81.

Memories are never what they seem. What happened to your Discovery 2 today?
I had a mate from school whose dad worked there...... primary school in Chiltern.
It was pretty cool to know someone who knew how to make TVs and fit remote controls
When I am home I borrow my brothers motorcycle and ride past the old Sanyo factory ... What happened to your Discovery 2 today?

my Disco 1 was much simpler......

Was Sanyo around in Wodonga in the mid 70s. I vaguely remember making TV cabinets for ( what I thought was) Sanyo for a couple of months between leaving school and joining the ADF in mid 75.

Well since you mentioned TVs. My dad was a TV sales and repair man. We had 36 B/W and 12 colour in the house at one time!!
