Bloody!..... doors!! :bat:
Started off simple: Just a simple front left window roller issue. Got an appropriate washer, removed plastic roller, fitted washer, tack welded in place, ground down appropriately, fitted to D2 .. worked. Like a kid played with window for a few minutes, all good. Packed up door, packed tools away, close door, one more test ... SNAP! .. shyte-ski!! something metallic snapped and now window is all loosy goosy won't stay up. Of course AFTER I closed up the door skin, would never happen whilst it was apart to easily see what happend.
I assumed it was my ugly tack weld gone belly up. Didn't bother to take door skin off, just went straight to store to buy new octopussy window contraption. After a few days rain, I finally got around to have a peek. Ah! not my fault, my tack weld was fine, the sawtooth arc thing snapped off, so motor was just spinning like mad.
Now time to fit the octopus contraption thing, not having any reference as to how it fits, because the sawtooth arc part is not holding motor and window frame in it's last known position, ie. it's reference point.
I got both parts for both front doors(I'm expecting the drivers door to start playing up any moment now too [bigwhistle] ..) I'm sure I chose the right contraption(of the two I have).
I fitted all the bits wrong way, as I don't know how the motor is parked, up or down.. or if it's important .. Top tip, it's not! But with no reference as to how its supposed to be fitted I can only try this way and that. Third time lucky, after trying the RHS part too, but I finally figga it out, window works, lubed up, a little working fine . adjusted window frame for the door to shut nice and tight .. door now perfect [thumbsupbig]
..... or so I thought.
Went to pickup a friend to help her out with some stuff, she tries to open door... nothing. I get out to open door, nothing. I try from inside, nothing.
Door opened and closed perfectly when I fixed the window, but on the last test, I accidentally leaned on the lock tab and locked it, hit the dash unlock button and worked fine, opened and closed fine, but something went wrong between here and there.
Now front LHS door won't open, so have to check out what's happened there, so need to pull it apart .. AGAIN .. if I can get it opened first.
Friend jumps in rear left, door opens fine, we get back to my place, she can't open door from inside now! [bigrolf] Can open from outside(which I did), but inside release doesn't work. ANOTHER doors bites the dust(and no, not the child lock either).
On the way to pick her up, I drive with both RHS windows slightly down for some fresh air, and rear right window won't go down, or up .. window has now come out of it's frame too.
ANOTHER door to have to open up and fixer upperup too.
I know what'll happen too .. I'll have all three doors fixed one day soon, and the drivers door will play up in some obscure way. And it won't be the parts that I'm prepared for(ie. the window mechanism, which I have the part for) .. it'll be something totally stupid and annoying!
After seeing the thread about the new Bronco from Ford .. I'm thinking, what a great idea .. have the ability to totally remove doors .. above problem totally solvered [biggrin]
